Leshan Great Buddha, Sichuan Province - China
Leshan means Le (Happy) Shan (Mountain). is located at the east of Leshan City,
about 160 km from Chengdu.
It is a largest stone-carved Buddha in the world that took about 3 generations (90 years) hard-worked to finish it and was declared as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. With 71 metres high and 28 metres wide the Great Buddha facing at the confluence of 3 rivers : Ming River, Qing Yi River and Da Du River. It means Buddha is watching and protecting over all the transportation activities on the rivers.
To view this Great Buddha statue closer, visitors can take a tour by ferry with a RMB 50 ticket.
It takes about 30 minutes jouney and ferry will stop right in front of the statue to let visitors taking their pictures.
